FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker announced his resignation, effective January 20, 2025, allowing President-elect Donald Trump to appoint his successor. Whitaker, who took office in October 2023, implemented strict enforcement policies against Boeing following safety issues and led the agency through challenges requiring stricter oversight and modernization of outdated systems.
